Nostalgic apparel brand takes uncommon leap, stays on-brand with new and retro shopping experience

BOSTON, Mass.--Local Vyntagea lifestyle apparel brand that brings together nostalgia and local culture, opened their very first retail store this past Saturday. After five years of growth in a purely digital marketplace, the brand is now inviting customers to shop in real life at 386 Centre St in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts during the following store hours: 1-6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

The grand opening event was marked with a ribbon-cutting and remarks by Chet Winnicki, the founder of Local Vyntage. Boston’s Chief of Economic Development Midori Morikawa also joined in the festivities. She made a special presentation during the program on behalf of Mayor Kim Janey, proclaiming Oct. 23, 2021 as Local Vyntage Day in the city of Boston in honor of the launch of their first retail store.

“After years of growing and thriving online, we’re taking a relatively new path for many businesses: from e-tailer to retailer,” said Chet Winnicki, founder and owner of Local Vyntage. “The past 18 months have been full of surprises for us and for all businesses, and I feel very fortunate that we’ve come out on the other side feeling extremely confident in our ability to take Local Vyntage from 0’s-and-1’s to brick-and-mortar.”

Local Vyntage’s flagship store features over 500 square feet of retail space that captures the nostalgic foundation of the brand. Customers will find curious vintage trinkets and decor from New England cities for which Local Vyntage offers apparel collections. In one corner of the store, visitors will be transported to the ultimate ‘90s childhood bedroom, complete with retro print wallpaper and furniture, as well as a classic tube television. Customers can sit down and play classic video game consoles or catch an episode of a beloved and bygone TV show. Throughout the space, customers will enjoy listening to music from the ’80s and ’90s.

This analog to digital transition comes with many benefits for shoppers. While the store will mainly showcase designs from around Massachusetts and New England, customers can shop for and take home any Local Vyntage design. The brand’s fulfillment center and warehouse is located behind the storefront, and soon shoppers will be able to explore all of their products on a retro computer that has been outfitted for modern use. Online customers will now be able to pick up orders and make returns in-store.
